What chiropodist-led care means
Registered Chiropodists are provincially regulated health professionals in Ontario with full clinical scope of practice for the assessment and treatment of foot and ankle conditions. Pedorthists focus on footwear and orthotics, whereas Registered Chiropodists are additionally authorized to:
- Prescribe medications

- Assess, diagnose and treat foot and ankle conditions
The Tread Well foot clinic is led entirely by Registered Chiropodists, which provides our patients with access to a full scope of foot care at a single address in Burlington.

In The Treatment Room
Chiropody treatment in detail
Every foot concern starts with a chiropody assessment. From there, routine care, diabetic foot health, in-office nail surgery, wart treatment and therapeutic laser and ultrasound are all performed by Registered Chiropodists at 3305 Harvester Road.
Routine nail and foot care
Nail trimming, callus and corn management, bunion care, and monitoring of the feet and nails for early signs of injury, infection or other concerns.
Diabetic foot care and education
Many patients with diabetes experience numbness or reduced sensation, which makes minor injuries difficult to detect. We assess circulation and sensation, provide routine care, and explain what to monitor at home.
Nail surgery
Partial Nail Avulsion (PNA) removes a portion of the affected nail. Total Nail Avulsion (TNA) removes the whole nail. Both are performed in office under local anesthetic, with medication to prevent regrowth where indicated.
More about toenail surgeryWart removal
Plantar warts are a viral skin infection. Overlying hard skin is reduced and a chemical solution is applied to the infected tissue over a short series of visits; response varies, and treatment is adjusted as it progresses.
More about wart treatmentLaser therapy
Low-level laser is applied over the painful area to reduce inflammation and support healing at a cellular level. Our Registered Chiropodists use it for heel and arch pain, Achilles and other tendon problems, arthritic joints and slow-healing tissue. Treatment is painless and takes only a few minutes within your appointment.
Therapeutic ultrasound
Sound waves are directed into deeper soft tissue to ease pain and improve tissue extensibility, commonly used for plantar fasciitis, tendon and ligament injuries and persistent soft tissue tightness in the foot and ankle. Laser and ultrasound are available at both of our clinics and are used by our Chiropodists and physiotherapists alike.
Conditions we treat
Routine appointments include a thorough evaluation, together with nail trimming, callus management, bunion care and monitoring for early signs of injury or infection. Where pain, inflammation or a tendon problem is involved, laser or ultrasound therapy may be added to your treatment.
