Plantar Wart Removal in Burlington

Plantar warts can be stubborn and painful to walk on. Our Chiropodists treat the root of the wart to reduce the chance of it coming back.

Understanding the condition

About plantar warts

Plantar warts are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV) entering the skin on the sole of the foot through small cuts or cracks. Pressure from walking pushes them inward, which is why they can be painful and are often mistaken for corns. Because the virus lives within the skin, effective treatment must reach the root of the wart, not just the surface.

Common symptoms

  • A rough, grainy growth on the sole of the foot
  • Tiny black dots (clotted blood vessels) within the lesion
  • Pain when squeezed from side to side
  • Clusters of small warts (mosaic warts)
  • Lesions that return after home treatment

Common causes

  • HPV exposure in pools, gyms and change rooms
  • Cracked or broken skin on the feet
  • Walking barefoot in shared spaces
  • A weakened immune response
  • Sweaty feet

How we treat it

Our approach at Tread Well

01

Accurate diagnosis

Your Chiropodist confirms the lesion is a wart rather than a corn, as the treatments differ.

02

Targeted chemical treatment

Overlying skin is reduced and a chemical solution applied to the root of the wart over a short series of visits.

03

Prevention advice

We advise on footwear in shared spaces and skin care to reduce the chance of new warts.
