When Bracing Helps

The right support, for the right stage

A brace is a tool within an active recovery plan. It protects and steadies the joint while strength, control and confidence are rebuilt.

01

Sports recovery

Support for the knee or ankle while tissues heal, so you can keep training in a controlled way rather than stopping altogether.

02

Injury support

Sprains, ligament injuries and tendon irritation often benefit from a period of protection and gentle compression in the early stages.

03

Joint stability

For knees or ankles that give way, feel loose or lack confidence on uneven ground, a brace adds stability while strength is rebuilt.

04

Return to activity

Functional bracing helps patients step back into running, court sports, skiing and hiking with more confidence after an injury.

05

Arthritis and joint pain

Unloading and soft-support braces can ease pain in arthritic knees and help keep walking and daily activity comfortable.

06

Post-surgical protection

After ligament or knee surgery, a brace may be recommended to protect the repair while your rehabilitation progresses.

Functional Knee Bracing

Stability for demanding sport

For ligament injuries and knees that feel unstable, a hinged functional brace controls unwanted movement while still allowing a full, natural stride.

These braces are often recommended for skiing, hockey, soccer and court sports, and after ligament surgery once your surgeon and physiotherapist agree it is time to return.

Fitting & Consultation

How bracing works at Tread Well

Assessment first

Your practitioner examines the joint, reviews the injury and discusses your activities to decide whether a brace will help, and which type.

Measured and fitted

Braces are sized and adjusted on you in clinic, so straps, hinges and pads sit where they should and the brace stays put when you move.

Part of your plan

Bracing is combined with physiotherapy and exercise, with guidance on when to wear it and when to gradually wean off.

Bracing questions
