Hammer Toe and Claw Toe Treatment in Burlington
Toes that bend and curl at the joints can rub on shoes and develop painful corns. We relieve pressure and help keep the toes as flexible as possible.
Understanding the condition
About hammer & claw toes
Hammer toes bend at the middle joint, while claw toes bend at both the middle and end joints, often with the toe lifting at its base. Both result from an imbalance of the muscles and tendons that control the toes. In the early stages the toes remain flexible; over time they can become rigid. Early care helps reduce pain and can slow stiffening.

How we treat it
Our approach at Tread Well
01
Pressure relief and corn care
Painful corns and calluses are safely reduced in clinic, and silicone padding or toe props are used to protect prominent joints.
02
Footwear and orthotics
Deeper toe boxes reduce rubbing, and custom orthotics can redistribute pressure from the ball of the foot.
03
Exercises and monitoring
Toe mobility and strengthening exercises help maintain flexibility, and we monitor changes where surgery may later be considered.
